## <a id="sellhomeowners"></a>Does Aegis Sell Homeowners Insurance?

Yes, Aegis Security Insurance Company sells homeowners insurance, though with a focus on specialty and hard-to-place risks. Aegis General offers an Affordable Homeowners product that protects the property and assets of clients who may not secure coverage through standard markets. The company's product is designed for risks that may have sustained one or two minor losses or have a property with an aging roof, and it may also benefit homeowners who have a dog breed that would otherwise deem the entire risk ineligible. Aegis General offers special limitations or exclusions to reduce these exposures while maintaining a homeowner's eligibility for coverage. [(Texas Department of Insurance, "Windstorm coverage for home and residential property", 2026)](https://www.tdi.texas.gov/company/windstorm-insurance-companies-residential.html)

The policies offer coverage for 11 named perils including fire or lightning, windstorm, and hail. Customers can purchase enhanced broad coverage for additional perils including falling objects, weight of ice and snow, discharge of water, and more. According to recent product information, the homeowners product includes many options and discounts, including companion auto insurance policy and green coverage packages. [(MyNewMarkets, "Homeowners (HO-3/5) from Aegis General Insurance Agency", 2026)](https://www.mynewmarkets.com/listings/c63f6j)

National Mobile Home Insurance offers customers Aegis insurance in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Washington.

## <a id="sellmanufactured"></a>Does Aegis Sell Mobile and Manufactured Home Insurance?

Yes, manufactured and mobile home insurance represents Aegis Security Insurance Company's core specialty. Aegis General specializes in writing insurance for manufactured homes, including single-wide, double-wide, and modular units. The company focuses primarily on underserved manufactured homes markets, specifically older and lower-valued homes. The program can be tailored to meet the needs of newer manufactured homes risks by providing enhanced coverage options for qualifying risks.

What distinguishes the program from others in the marketplace is that Aegis General provides coverage to protect customers from perils common to manufactured homes, offering customers an insurance policy and not a maintenance policy. As such, customers will not find unnecessary and cost-prohibitive add-on coverages in an insurance policy from Aegis General.

Aegis provides coverage options for all mobile and manufactured home occupancy types, including primary, seasonal, vacant, landlord, vacation rental, and tenant. Customers can modify their policies by selecting from a broad range of coverages and deductibles that meet their needs. Some of the optional coverages available include replacement-cost coverage for personal property and dwellings (available for most mobile and manufactured homes), inservant/outservant coverage for domestic employees, golf cart coverage, earthquake coverage, and flood coverage. Aegis offers its customers various payment options and ways to save, including a multiple-policy discount with the addition of auto insurance and loyalty discounts.

## <a id="howdoesitwork"></a>How Does Aegis Security Insurance Work?

Aegis Security Insurance Company operates through a network of independent insurance agents and brokers rather than selling directly to consumers. The company functions as both an insurance carrier (Aegis Security Insurance Company) and through its program administrator (Aegis General Insurance Agency).

**Quote and Purchase Process:**

Aegis has launched a web-based rating platform designed to provide producers instant quote turnarounds and real-time policy issuance. Customers cannot obtain quotes directly from Aegis; instead, they must work with an appointed independent insurance agent who has access to Aegis products.

To obtain coverage through Aegis:
1. Contact an independent insurance agent licensed to sell Aegis products
2. Provide information about your property (type, age, location, condition)
3. Receive a quote from your agent, typically within 24 hours
4. Review coverage options and customize your policy
5. Bind coverage and receive your policy documents

**Claims Handling:**

The expanded claims operation allows K2 Claims to handle claims nationally for all Aegis product lines, including property, auto, personal liability, general liability, and workers compensation. This is led by a claims team with decades of insurance claims experience. The Chief Claims Officer, with over 35 years of claims experience, is active on industry and regulatory insurance claims advisory boards. [(Aegis General Insurance Agency, "About AEGIS General Insurance", 2025)](https://aegiseasy.com/about-aegis/)

Today the claims team has a full-time complement of employees that operate out of regional offices spread across 13 states, supported by field adjusters and a network of over 5,000 contracted adjusters. That means if a client suffers a loss, team members nearby are ready to help. Regardless of which carrier partner business is placed with, clients will always receive claims service and support.

Aegis General provides claim service no matter the size or type of loss. In addition to day-to-day claims handling, the company has built a dedicated mobile catastrophe claims team that responds to events immediately, in some cases before the catastrophe is over. Aegis General's mobile catastrophe claims team uses licensed adjusters and appraisers who can issue payments on the scene, with authority to settle claims in the fastest, most efficient way possible.

For Arizona auto policies, Aegis directs claims to Aegis Covercube Claims at 1-623-444-5068. [(Aegis Security Insurance Company, "Arizona Personal Auto Claims", 2026)](https://www.aegisinsco.com/az-personal-auto-claims)

<p>Stay Away, I pay a premium for replacement cost value but the way aegis works is they pay actual cash value which takes depreciation into account and they will only pay the actual cash value at first, then once you've already been drained financially because you're obviously going through something if you're having to file a claim, they expect you to come out of pocket for repairs. Then if you follow all of the fine print and get everything just right then they'll pay out the difference and of course the deductible also comes out. The independent adjuster was good in my opinion however he forgot to put one of the items we needed replaced on his report, but due to aegis NEVER and I mean never answering the phone I will just eat the friggin loss at this point. When they actually do answer the phone, and you have questions and a hard time understanding the lawyer lingo in the policy, they of course get short and rude.</p>

## <a id="faq"></a>Frequently Asked Questions

### Is Aegis Security Insurance Company a Real Insurance Company?

Yes, Aegis Security Insurance Company is an 'A' rated insurer by Demotech and is licensed in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The company started business on 5/25/1977 and was incorporated on 5/25/1977 as a Corporation. Aegis Security Insurance Company is a legitimate admitted insurance carrier specializing in manufactured homes and specialty residential properties. The company has been in business for 48 years as of 2025 and maintains an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.

### How Does Aegis Security Insurance Company Make Money?

Aegis generates revenue through insurance premiums collected from policyholders. As an insurance carrier, Aegis underwrites policies and assumes the financial risk of covered claims. The company operates through independent insurance agents who receive commissions for selling Aegis products. In 2011, Pat Kilkenny launched K2 Insurance Services with longtime colleagues and industry partners. With their hybrid insurance company and distribution model, K2 built and acquired a portfolio of specialty underwriting operations which by the end of 2018 wrote over $400 million of premium. K2 was acquired by private equity investors in July 2019.

### Is Aegis Security Insurance Worth the Price?

For homeowners with manufactured homes, mobile homes, or hard-to-place properties, Aegis may offer competitive pricing and access to coverage when other insurers decline. Customer reviews indicate that the company is "pretty good about working with you and your insurance premiums," allowing customers to "break it up monthly if that is the best way," with "great customer service on the phone." However, some customers report challenges with claims processing and communication, particularly regarding actual cash value versus replacement cost payment disputes.

The value depends on your specific situation. Aegis serves a niche market—if you own an older manufactured home or a property that traditional carriers won't insure, Aegis provides access to necessary coverage. Always compare quotes from multiple insurers and work with an independent agent to find the best coverage and price for your needs.

### Does Aegis Security Insurance Sell Auto Insurance?

Aegis Security Insurance Company offers limited auto insurance products, primarily in Arizona. The company specializes in residential property insurance, specialized low-value dwellings, and motorcycles. Motorcycle insurance is available nationwide through Aegis, but standard personal auto insurance is not a primary product line for the company. The company exited the commercial auto space in late 2023.

### What States Does Aegis Security Insurance Operate In?

Aegis Security Insurance Company is licensed in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. However, product availability varies by state. According to Clearsurance data, the company sells homeowners insurance in 44 states and motorcycle insurance in 50 states and D.C. National Mobile Home Insurance offers customers Aegis insurance in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Washington.

### Should I Buy Aegis Security Insurance?

Consider Aegis Security Insurance Company if you:

- Own a manufactured home, mobile home, or modular home
- Have an older or lower-valued property that traditional insurers decline
- Need coverage for a property with characteristics that make it hard to insure (aging roof, certain dog breeds, minor claim history)
- Live in a rural area with limited insurance options
- Want flexible payment options including monthly billing
- Need access to a nationwide claims network with regional offices and on-site adjusters

However, be aware of customer concerns about claims processing speed and customer service responsiveness. Work with an independent insurance agent to compare Aegis with other available options and ensure you understand your policy's actual cash value versus replacement cost provisions before purchasing. Given the mixed customer reviews, particularly regarding claims handling, review your policy carefully, understand the claims process, and maintain open communication with your insurance agent throughout the policy term. The company's withdrawal from AM Best's rating process in 2023 following a downgrade may also warrant consideration, though its Demotech 'A' rating remains affirmed as of December 2025.
