# Insurance Financial Privacy Notice

**Effective date:** November 4, 2026
**Notice version:** `coverage-cat-insurance-privacy-notice-2026-11-04-r3`

This notice explains how Coverage Cat, Inc. collects, uses, protects, and shares nonpublic personal information in connection with personal insurance. It applies to applicants, customers, and former customers. It also applies when you ask us to help obtain a quote but do not buy a policy.

Please save or print a copy for your records. Our broader [Privacy Policy](https://www.coveragecat.com/privacy-policy) covers website, analytics, artificial-intelligence, and other data practices. Our [Connector Data Handling notice](https://www.coveragecat.com/developers/data-handling) adds narrower limits for information submitted through an assistant or Agent API. This notice controls where it gives you greater insurance-privacy rights.

## What information we collect

The information depends on the insurance product and service you request. We may collect:

- your name, contact details, address, date of birth, age, and identity-verification information;
- household, marital, family, employment, income, asset, and other financial information;
- property addresses, ownership, characteristics, current insurance, mortgage, and requested coverage;
- vehicle, driver, driver's-licence, VIN, claim, accident, violation, and driving-record information;
- insurance applications, quotes, policies, declarations, coverage choices, payment tokens, and transaction status;
- credit-based insurance information, consumer-report information, and related authorization and adverse-action records;
- limited property-and-casualty information about injuries, a medically related licence suspension, or disability-related employment status;
- messages, calls, chat content, documents, support requests, and service-contact choices; and
- account, authentication, consent, device, browser, usage, security, and diagnostic information.

Our current customer quote and purchase flows do not ask for Social Security or taxpayer identification numbers. We do not currently ask for diagnoses, treatment records, prescriptions, or medical histories for life, disability, or long-term-care medical underwriting. Please do not send us Social Security numbers or medical records.

## Where information comes from

We collect information from:

- you, a person you authorize, household members, and an assistant or operator acting at your direction;
- your applications, transactions, messages, documents, and use of our services;
- insurers, managing general agencies, distribution partners, comparative raters, agency systems, and policy-connection services;
- consumer-reporting agencies and motor-vehicle or driving-record sources when law and the requested insurance transaction permit;
- public records and address, property, vehicle, identity, fraud, and insurance-data services; and
- service providers that support payments, communications, documents, security, analytics, and customer support.

## Why and with whom we share information

We seek to limit each disclosure to the information reasonably needed for the permitted purpose. The table describes our current practices.

| Reason for disclosure | Typical recipients | Do we disclose? | Can you limit it? |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Obtain, compare, underwrite, issue, pay for, or service insurance you request | Insurers, managing general agencies, distribution partners, comparative raters, agency systems, consumer-report providers, payment providers, and authorized insurance-support organizations | Yes | Usually no. Law permits disclosures needed for a transaction you request. You may withdraw an authorization for future consumer-report requests where applicable. |
| Operate, secure, and support our services | Cloud hosting, document processing, communications, authentication, fraud-prevention, customer-support, professional, and other service providers | Yes | Usually no when applicable law permits the disclosure for service operations. Provider-specific contracts and legal limits vary. |
| Respond to your direction | A connected assistant platform, authorized representative, or other recipient you direct us to use | Yes, when you direct or authorize it | You may revoke a continuing authorization for future disclosures. Revocation does not undo a completed disclosure. |
| Comply with law or protect people, transactions, and rights | Regulators, law enforcement, courts, auditors, attorneys, fraud-prevention organizations, and other legally authorized recipients | When needed | No, when law permits or requires the disclosure. |
| Jointly market financial products or services with another financial institution | None | No | Not applicable. |
| Let a nonaffiliated company market its own products or services to you | None | No | Not applicable. |
| Let an affiliate use your information for its own marketing | None | No | Not applicable. |

We use analytics and advertising-measurement services on selected public pages as described in our [Privacy Policy](https://www.coveragecat.com/privacy-policy). We also use PostHog for privacy-restricted operational analytics in private application and account flows. Those events use a pseudonymous application identifier and may include limited workflow, quote, policy, carrier, insurance-line, premium, payment-setup, and diagnostic details. We do not send these services customer email addresses or telephone numbers, including hashed versions. Global Privacy Control, Do Not Track, and our tracking opt-out suppress the browser advertising and analytics described in the Privacy Policy. You may also ask us not to use or disclose information for an optional advertising-measurement purpose by emailing [support@coveragecat.com](mailto:support@coveragecat.com).

We do not sell applications as customer leads. We do not disclose nonpublic personal information to nonaffiliated companies for their own marketing or under a joint-marketing agreement. If we propose a new disclosure outside a legal exception, we will provide a revised notice and any required choice before that disclosure.

## Service providers and legal limits

We select service providers to perform specified functions for Coverage Cat. The contracts and legal restrictions that apply vary by provider; Coverage Cat is reviewing and documenting the confidentiality, security, use, retention, and deletion terms for each provider. A vendor's zero-data-retention setting can reduce retention, but it does not replace the legal limits on use and disclosure.

An insurer or another regulated recipient may keep its own copy under its legal duties and privacy notice. Its practices can differ from ours. An applicable carrier notice may be provided separately by the carrier or Coverage Cat. You may ask us to identify the notice for a carrier or product.

## Former customers

We apply this notice to former customers as well as current customers. We keep and disclose former-customer information only as this notice and law permit. Insurance, consent, transaction, audit, dispute, security, and legal records can remain after an account closes. Our [Privacy Policy](https://www.coveragecat.com/privacy-policy) describes the applicable retention periods and deletion limits.

## How we protect information

We limit access to people and providers who need information for an authorized task. We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed for the sensitivity of the information. These include access controls, authenticated customer and operator sessions, encrypted network transport, provider tokenization for payment details, restricted credentials, audit records, and security testing. No system is completely secure.

## Your access, correction, deletion, and disclosure choices

You may ask to:

- access or receive a copy of personal information that we maintain about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- learn the categories of sources and recipients of your information;
- delete information that we are not required or permitted to retain;
- revoke an authorization for a future disclosure; or
- restrict a disclosure when applicable law gives you that choice.

Email [support@coveragecat.com](mailto:support@coveragecat.com). State the right you want to exercise and the application or policy involved, if known. We verify identity and authority before acting. We will explain any legal limit, required retention, or denial. When an original insurance record must remain, we may append a correction or statement instead of overwriting it.

You may submit an applicable financial-information opt-out at any time by emailing [support@coveragecat.com](mailto:support@coveragecat.com) with the subject **Insurance privacy opt-out**. This is a free electronic method for customers who agree to receive this notice electronically. Our current practices do not include a non-exempt disclosure that requires this opt-out. We will apply the choice before any future non-exempt disclosure and will not discriminate against you for exercising it. Disclosures needed to obtain or service the insurance you request, prevent fraud, comply with law, or perform another legally permitted function can continue.

## Health information

Coverage Cat currently handles only the limited property-and-casualty health-adjacent facts described above or information that a person sends without our request. We use or disclose that information only for the requested insurance transaction, policy service, fraud or security work, a legal duty, or another purpose permitted by law.

When state law requires a separate authorization for nonpublic personal health information, we will ask for it before the disclosure. You may revoke that authorization for future disclosures. Legal insurance-function and other statutory exceptions can still apply. We do not use health information, or information derived from it, for external model training or advertising.

## State-specific rights

These rights supplement the rest of this notice. A more protective applicable law controls.

## Notice delivery and changes

We deliver this notice when required at the start of a customer relationship or before a disclosure that requires it. We provide annual notices unless a documented legal exception applies. We will deliver a revised notice before a materially broader non-exempt disclosure and provide any required choice.

For electronic delivery, we record the notice version and text hash, delivery time and channel, applicable state and product, and, when you acknowledge the notice, your acknowledgment. A connected assistant must show you the notice and convey your acknowledgment; it may not accept the notice for you. You can always return to this page for the current version.
