We're excited to announce the launch of the Coverage Cat Price and Coverage Calculator for car insurance. This tool is an step towards price transparency. Our goal is to help users understand what drives price and coverage instead of vague promises and significant time invested.

Try it here. We currently have data for California, Florida, New York, Texas, and Washington and are looking to add additional states shortly.

What does it do?

Enter a few variables, and we'll show you how much drivers like you are paying compared to your monthly premium. Enter a bit more information about your coverage, and we'll show you how your prices change with different choices. We even score your insurance price and coverage based on how far from the median your price falls, and how well your insurance coverages fit your financial situation.

How does it work?

This first model isolates what we've seen as some key features of coverage and price in our quote dataset. Age, declared gender, and state of residence are the person-characteristics that drive the biggest price changes, a car's make and model can introduce a lot of variance into the process.

Thank you very much to our engineer Chris who executed fast on this process to manage and display the data. The turnaround between project sketches and this first launch was impressive!
